We will implement the following quality control program to assure your complete satisfaction:

Solution 1 Building Services Inc. will maintain the highest level of cleaning possible through a stabilized work force that is reliable and well trained.

The foreman will be English speaking and able to communicate with their work force as well as the building liaison.

A supervisor will be assigned to your facility to meet with the contract manager at regular intervals or as requested.

Solution 1 Building Services Inc. strives for quality with the efforts of its management and supervisory teams by way of constant inspections, announced and unannounced.

A logbook can be stationed at a mutually agreed upon area for the purpose of additions, deletions, and special requests.

Our Management Plan

One of solution 1 management team will be the executive in charge of your facility. Our management brings to your project the benefit of more than 25 years experience in the building maintenance industry.

The key to successful management of a project lies not only with sound planning, scheduling and production of the work, but also with the flexibility and staffing to handle changes and emergency requests.

Our communication system is designed for immediate response to any request or emergency. Our supervisory personnel are available by pager or cellular phone, 24 hours each day. We take pride in the fact that our management staff makes a conscious effort to return phone calls within one hour.

We will assign a local area manager for your facility who has experience working with major contracts. The area manager will be the immediate superior to the on-site supervisor and will be totally responsible for the production of the work.

In addition to the regular cleaners assigned to your facility, it is our policy to cross-train one of our floor care specialists on the responsibilities of each of the individual job assignments in the project. This enables your facility to have a fully trained, readily available replacement for any absent cleaner. For any Day Porter position, we will have two cross-trained replacements standing by on pager, ready to fill in for any emergency.

Our Hiring Practices

  1. Our first goal is to hire qualified local residents. We also check our current roster of employees who may live in the city or community in which the contract is located.
  2. Our second resource is Empire’s casual labor pool. This consists of our construction clean up, vacation, and sick leave fill-in roster. These employees are already familiar with Empire Building & Environmental Services Inc. rules and regulations.
    Most new hires come from a recommendation of a fellow worker, supervisor and/or management who have worked previously with candidate and would rate him/her highly.

Recruitment Process

We employ a full-time human resources manager to oversee the following:

  • In-house recommendation
  • Candidate fills out employment application
  • Form I-9 Employee Eligibility Verification
  • Form W-4
  • Past History (birth certificate, citizenship, green card)
  • Employment History
  • Interviews and skilled analyzed
  • Reference check
  • Social Security check
  • Driving record checked by Empire Building & Environmental Services Inc. insurance company
  • In some cases, background check is done by Pinkerton Investigations

All new hires are required to attend an orientation-training workshop to review latest industry techniques, and to discuss emergency and safety measures, security, absenteeism, tardiness, responsibilities, payroll procedures, dress code, and Solution 1 Building Services Inc. policies and regulations.

As a minimum, the janitor shall be instructed in the following:

  • Introduction to assignments
  • Proper handling of all chemicals
  • Tools and equipment
  • Dusting and spot cleaning
  • Restroom cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking
  • Tasks and frequencies
  • Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Rules and regulations
  • Safety policies and procedures
  • Customers emergency procedures (fire and earthquake drills)
  • Dress code

All personnel are required to attend mandatory safety and job training meetings on a periodic basis.

Solution 1 Building Services Inc. ensures that all its employees are clean, neat, and appropriately dressed.

Each employee shall bear company Identification card wear any of the following: T-shirt, polo shirt, vest, smock, apron, jacket or sweatshirt with Solution 1Building Services Inc. name imprinted or your company name and/or logo.

Solution 1 Building Services Inc. will provide trained and uniformed relief personnel.

Each vacant position will have a competent replacement.
